MapInfo Files Into ArcGIS 9

We have some old MapInfo files floating around from the days when we ran MapInfo on Macintosh computers. Whew! That was a long time ago, but here's how you get to view and use those old files. In ArcCatalogue, use the ArcView 8x Tools toolbar (View -> Toolbars -> ArcView 8x Tools). Then use the MIF to Shapefile function shown circled in red above and navigate to the MapInfo MIF file(s) and save them under a new name. This can also be done as a batch process, as well.

This might require a projection transformation of some sort. Keri, let me know how this works.

So, I tried this conversion and got an error message that Arc Catalog was unable to finish the conversion. The shape files did show up in the designated folder. However, when I tried to open them in ArcMap I received the message "Error opening feature class". Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.

If you have access to MapInfo you can use the universal translator that is bundled with it. This is a suggestion on the User forum on the ESRI site and it worked for me when I was surprised to encounter the same problem.

Hello,

I'm in complete mess. I just want to convert MapInfo file to dwg file using C#.NET.

Does any one have any idea of achieving this? Is there any API which can support this?

Please suggest.

Sorry, pintu, I don't know how to resolve that DWG issue.
